Many of us have really missed the fun, child development and social aspect of baby and toddler classes – I know I have. So, I am super-excited to provide a round-up of the fabulous variety of baby and toddler classes in Tunbridge Wells which I know have re-opened already, or are opening very soon.
Please check the timings, venue and Covid 19 information carefully with the organisers, as there are some changes post-lockdown. Places are more limited due to social distancing so don’t delay booking.
Some classes are still offering online sessions too, so it’s worth checking if you would still prefer to stick to online classes for now. With regards to playgroups around Tunbridge Wells, I’m afraid it looks like they aren’t currently running. We will let you know when this changes…
Top baby and toddler classes in Tunbridge Wells to to try!
♥ babyballet®: A fun, award-winning dance programme for pre-school boys and girls from 6 months to 6 years, designed to encourage babies and young children to enjoy the benefits and joys of song and dance. Classes are currently taking place in Tunbridge Wells on Tuesday afternoons, Wednesday mornings and Thursday mornings at St Barnabas Church Hall as well as Friday and Saturday mornings at St James’ Church Hall.
♥ Baby Explorers: On Tuesdays or Fridays take your baby aged 0-12 months to the Baby Explorer sessions in Southborough New Life Church. Designed to help baby learn through themed play and fun sensory activities that focus on baby’s fine motor skills, coordination and social interaction, with lots of ideas to take home and try together!
♥ Baby Sensory and Toddler Sense: Watch your baby develop at these interactive classes and enjoy special moments together. Every class provide opportunities for adventure, exploration and physical and cognitive development for children from birth to 5 years. Classes run in Frant Village hall on Mondays and in East Grinstead on Tuesdays between 9.30 am and 4pm. ♥ Cascade Dance: Cascade Minis are entertaining, creative dance classes for 3-6 year olds, incorporating dance, yoga, play, singing and props, on a themed adventure, to encourage practical and social skills, and tonnes of creativity! For the Autumn term, one class per week is running on Saturday mornings at Oakley Fitness on Vale Road.
♥ Chantelle Poole School of Dance: Baby Ballet classes for age 2-4 years at various venues in Tunbridge Wells from Thursdays through to Saturdays. Run by ex-professional and Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) fully qualified teacher, Chantelle, following the RAD syllabus for ballet.
♥ Firefly Dance School: Budding ballerinas can start their journey into the world of ballet from as young as walking age, dancing alongside their grown-ups in the Teeny Tiny Ballet classes on Friday (Oakley Gym) and Saturday (New Life Church) mornings. From 2.5 years old ballerinas progress onto Baby Ballet, learning the fundamentals of ballet through the use of props and imagination, at various venues throughout the week in these fun, friendly classes.
♥ Gymboree Play & Music: Back from 21st September at its new home in Royal Victoria Place with 7 days a week of super-active developmental classes for babies and children from 0-5 years on the unique Gymboree apparatus. Membership provides one class per week and an open gym session.
♥ Hartbeeps: The nearest Hartbeeps sessions to Tunbridge Wells are taking place on Wednesdays in Tonbridge. There are plans to open in Tunbridge Wells soon too, so watch this space. If you haven’t been to Hartbeeps before, they are original and highly interactive sessions for babies & young children, putting your child at the heart of a magical, musical adventure. ♥ Little Forest Ponies: For something a bit different, this unique horse-riding stable near Ashdown Forest. Tiny Tot Pony Sessions are held every other Sunday for children age two to four years old to learn the basics of riding, handling and caring for ponies. One-to-one and group lessons available on weekday mornings.
♥ Monkey Music: Entertain and educate babies from 3 months to 4 years, through structured, social music-making, with percussion instruments, colourful props and a progressive curriculum of over 300 original and traditional songs, musical games and movement. Mondays and Thursdays at The Camden Centre or, if you prefer, there are live streamed sessions to enjoy throughout the week.
♥ Puddle Ducks: These award-winning child-led baby and pre-school swimming classes incorporate rhymes, music and movement, instilling confidence and respect for water. The classes are held 6 days per week at various warm pool venues in and around Tunbridge Wells.
♥ Ready Steady Sport: Toby is running his popular multi-sports coaching programme in and around Tunbridge Wells for 2.5 – 7 year olds. It’s an engaging introduction to 7 different sports in small classes with lots of fun ways to improve co-ordination, balance, self-confidence and ball skills! Sessions are running on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesday and Fridays.
♥ Sure Start Children’s Centres: If you’re missing the free Children’s Centre classes, visit the Facebook page for a wide selection of fun and educational activities to try with pre-schoolers at home. To see one of the team, ‘Pop-up in The Park’ is happening on Tuesday 15th Sept and 6th October at Grosvenor & Hilbert, offering friendly advice and support to families, with free childcare available for 2-3 year olds.
♥ The Dance Studio: An autumn/winter term of preschool dance classes for children age 2+ years is running on Friday afternoons at Toc H Hall in Tunbridge Wells. Blossoming little dancers will enjoy ballet, tap, modern, singing and musical instruments, under the experienced eye of Principal Marianne Amos.
♥ Tiger Stripes Birth & Baby: New to Tunbridge Wells and run by local mum, Karen is offering a baby massage course, starting on Thursday 24th September at 2.30pm at Rackliff Centre in Rusthall. The 5 week course consists of 50 minute lessons which build up to a full body routine. Baby Massage has huge benefits for both parents and babies including time to bond, soothing & relaxing for parents and baby, aids digestion and helps with wind and relieves symptoms of colic. The course is £40 and can be booked HERE.
♥ Unity Yoga Bumps & Babies: 6 week Me & Mum! Postnatal Yoga & Baby Bonding courses at The Camden Centre on Mondays and Thursdays at Kingdom (near Penshurst). A super relaxed and fun way to get back in to exercise with babies aged from 6 weeks to crawling.

♥ Babee Ballet: These unique dance classes for girls and boys from 2 years old use a hive of inspired themes to encourage and develop musicality and the love of dance. Exact timings and dates are being confirmed and we’ll update this post as soon as we know more.
♥ Busylizzy: A busy and varied timetable of fun, friendly baby and postnatal classes where baby is welcome too! A flexible membership gives the choice of fitness for you, as well as baby massage, mini dancers and baby music. Classes are currently run live on the Facebook Group but look out for updates of when Busylizzy will be back in venues.
♥ Diddi Dance: Action packed 45-minute funky pre-school dance classes for boys and girls age 18+ months are currently being run online by professional dancer, choreographer and ex-Diddi mum, Gemma. Classes are currently available online.
