Looking for a family-friendly event where you can grow your network without sacrificing your Sunday? The Big Business BBQ is set to do exactly that, bringing together business owners from across Kent for an afternoon of great food, relaxed networking and plenty to keep the children entertained.
Taking place on Sunday 16 August at the brand-new Meadow Tree Marquee in Tonbridge, the event is a collaboration between two local networking communities, Mums in Business and the newly launched Built by Dads.
Two local communities joining forces
Mums in Business has been connecting female business owners across Kent since 2009, with thriving communities in Tunbridge Wells, Sevenoaks and, most recently, Tonbridge. Now led by Grainne Dunne, owner of The Sidekick Co., the network has become known for creating genuine business relationships and supportive local communities.
This summer, Grainne has joined forces with local business owner Chris Seaman to launch Built by Dads, a brand-new networking community designed specifically for fathers running businesses. Whether you’re a founder, freelancer, CEO or sole trader, Built by Dads aims to offer a welcoming space where men can build meaningful business connections and friendships with people who understand the challenges of balancing work and family life.
To celebrate the launch, the two organisations are coming together to host what promises to be one of Kent’s biggest business networking BBQs.

More than just networking
Forget awkward name badges and formal breakfasts. The Big Business BBQ has been designed as a relaxed summer gathering where conversations happen naturally while families enjoy the afternoon together.
Business owners will have plenty of opportunities to meet other local entrepreneurs throughout the event, including a dedicated networking hub where visitors can introduce themselves, exchange ideas and make valuable new connections.
Meanwhile, children will have no shortage of entertainment.
Visitors can expect:
• Face painting
• A bouncy castle
• Lawn games
• A LEGO workshop hosted by Bricks 4 Kidz
• Gaming tournaments with Home & Away Gaming
• Magic from Adam Smith, entertaining both children and adults throughout the afternoon

Great food, local businesses and summer vibes
No BBQ would be complete without fantastic food, and Uncle Beef Butchers will be firing up the grills with their much-loved butcher-quality street food available to purchase throughout the day.
There will also be a fully stocked bar, while Jonomade Gin will be offering visitors the chance to enjoy a tasting session during the event.
The afternoon is also a great opportunity to discover one of Tonbridge’s newest venues. Meadow Tree Marquee provides the perfect setting for a relaxed summer event, with plenty of indoor and outdoor space for families to enjoy.
Photography and videography throughout the day will be provided by local creative Mark Bass, of Bass Film Co. helping capture all the best moments from the launch event.

Supported by local businesses
The Big Business BBQ has attracted support from a number of well-known businesses, including Warners Solicitors, KJH Accounting, Drusillas Park, Home & Away Gaming, Uncle Beef Butchers and Bricks 4 Kidz, all helping create an event that celebrates collaboration within the local business community.
