Country pubs near Tunbridge Wells

Following the fantastic feedback and recommendations after my recent post about child friendly pubs near Tunbridge Wells, here is a follow-up post with five more pubs which are great for kids……

#1 The Vineyard, Lamberhurst

Country pubs near Tunbridge WellsWe have visited this little gem on several occasions and the food has been consistently good.

The inside of The Vineyard is beautifully decorated while the garden has really come into its own – on our most recent visit, we were delighted to see some lovely children’s play equipment and an outdoor bar and grill, making this child friendly pub near Tunbridge Wells even better than ever!

#2 Halfway House, Brenchly

Halfway House BrenchlyLocated in Brenchly, about 25 minutes from Tunbridge Wells, the Halfway House is a quirky family run pub with fantastic outside space.

The Halfway House prides itself on great quality real ales served straight from the barrel, with between 7 and 10 different beers available every day. It also provides and a selection of home-made food using locally sourced produce.

This rural country pub with low beams is full of character – parents can sit back and relax in the family garden,  the perfect place to spend an afternoon!

#3 The Kentish Hare, Bidborough

Kentish Hare www.mytunbridgewels.comSince opening its doors as The Kentish Hare last year, this gorgeous gastrob-pub has been attracting customers from all over Kent. The food is tasty and kids under five get to eat for free (from the children’s menu) any day of the week so long as another adult is eating with them!

There isn’t play equipment for the children here but Bidborough playground is only a few minutes walk away, or pop down to Penshurst Place afterwards to visit the fantastic Adventure Playground! To have a look at the marvellous menu at The Kentish Hare click here.

#4 The Mark Cross Inn

Mark Cross Inn www.mytunbridgewells.comThe Mark Cross Inn, located just a few minutes outside Tunbridge Wells (on the way to Crowborough) has a lovely south facing garden and play area for kids, perfect for those sunny Summer afternoons.

For Sunday lunch, families can enjoy a sharing board with a whole chicken and all the trimmings which I am told can be more cost effective – sounds good to me!

With beautiful views over the Sussex Weald, this child friendly pub near Tunbridge Wells is definitely worth a visit 🙂

#5 The Hop House, Tunbridge Wells

Hop HouseThe Hop House, located next to the Odeon Cinema in Knights Way,  Tunbridge Wells isn’t your typical country pub like the ones I have included above, but it serves reasonably priced food, has a very relaxed and informal atmosphere and most importantly, has soft play to keep the children entertained – great for those rainy days!

The Hop House offers a great value range of 2 for £10 meal deals all day, every day and a lunch club deal during weekdays between 12 and 4, serving a two course lunch with a drink for just £5.99.

The kids menu is ‘safari’ themed and offers a £5 meal deal. This pub might not be my first choice for a special family meal, but if you are looking for something cheap and cheerful that will keep the kids occupied for at least a little while, then this could be it!

I would love to hear of any other child friendly pubs near Tunbridge Wells which you think should be included here. Please comment below or on the Facebook page 🙂
