A giant fundraising charity event is roaring into Tunbridge Wells on Saturday 16 June, hosted by Jean’s Kitchen and Wine Bar – and My Tunbridge Wells has a family ticket (2 adults + up to 3 children) to give away to one lucky reader for this fantastic family friendly event.
The one-day Crazy Jean’s extravaganza, a huge soapbox race and exhilarating family fun day, will pit the town’s most competitive drivers against each other and push fundraising for local charities into overdrive.
Forty soapbox karts each sponsored and manned by local businesses and community groups will go head to head in a day of races at Dunorlan Park to raise thousands for much-loved Kent charities – Hospice in the Weald and ellenor.
Alongside the race track, Crazy Jean’s also includes a food village, Local & Live acoustic music stage and children’s entertainment including a fire engine, crafts, story-telling and inflatables!

Powering the event is headline sponsors Markerstudy, one of the biggest employers in Tunbridge Wells, who are not only apt in being car insurers but are keen supporters of local community events and charities.
TV chef Rosemary Shrager, as celebrity ambassador, is launching the races at midday as well as hosting the closing ceremony and prize-giving at 5pm. Tom Swift of Wicked Productions is providing Race Day commentary throughout the fun-packed day. Look out for local superhero, Ring-Pull Man too!
The brainchild of Tunbridge Wells entrepreneur Garry Jeffery of Jean’s Kitchen and Wine Bar on St John’s Road, Crazy Jean’s will raise money for two charities close to his and the town’s heart while also bringing a big, community event to the town he grew up in.
He explained: “We’re hoping a lot of people will turn out to see friends, foes, business associates and rivals go head to head in the race of the year.

“I’ve always wanted to do a kart race in Tunbridge Wells and while we’ve got close to it before, the timing is great right now. The famous carnival that was much-loved in the town is long gone and I really wanted to bring all the businesses and community groups together for one big, amazing event that will really bring a bit of healthy and fun competition to Tunbridge Wells.
“The Hospice in the Weald is close to my heart after they looked after my mum Jean before she died and ellenor provides hospice care at home for babies, children and young people – previously called ChYPS – who I’ve been fundraising for many years. They are both dear to my heart and are important charities in Kent.”
Doors open at 11am, races start at midday and music hosted by Local & Live starts from 5pm after prize giving. Tickets can be purchased online HERE and tickets can also be purchased on entry.
