Dating during a Pandemic

Who would have thought that there would ever be a need for a post entitled as this one is? Dating during a pandemic is certainly possible, and for some, it will offer a unique opportunity to get to know their date better than under normal circumstances. See below for some of our top tips for dating during a pandemic.

Virtual Speed Dating

Friday night doesn’t just have to be a Zoom quiz with your friends. If you look a little further you can find inventive ways to use the internet to meet new people and potentially find someone special. For example, dateinadash offers virtual speed dating which can be  a great way of weeding out the people who might not be a good match for you and potentially meeting someone who you would like to meet in person, for a socially distanced date!

Afternoon tea date

Why not see if you can find somewhere for a traditional afternoon tea? There are some world-famous hotels in London who serve afternoon tea fit for Royalty. If, however, the Government advice is not to travel you could improvise and create your own to have as a picnic out in the autumn sunshine.

Head to the coast

I love a trip to the coast. Obviously it is lovely when the weather is good and you can dip your toes in the sea but going out of season can be pretty perfect too. The beach won’t be as crowded as autumn gives way to winter but it is incredibly atmospheric and a great way to get some exercise and blow away the cobwebs. Walking gives both of you a wonderful chance to chat without distractions and, of course, steaming hot fish and chips will be well deserved at the end.

National Trust

The National Trust have so many beautiful buildings to visit and some of them have incredible grounds. Perhaps now is the time to start visiting some near you. Check out their website to see what booking arrangements are required at the moment, for example you might need to book the car park in advance.

An online dinner date?

Why not use the world wide web and take it in turns to make a meal of your choice to share virtually ‘together’. With a bit of planning you can organise the ingredients and cook along in the safety of your own home while you chat and share a drink. Then, once the meal is cooked, you can both sit down to enjoy it together. This could be a perfect Saturday night during stricter lockdown.

On your bike…

There are so many cycle friendly routes nowadays, it might be fun to arrange a cycle-date. Whether you go on a bike ride in the city or making your way through stunning scenery in the countryside, my advice would be to find a circular route which also incorporates a pub with an open fire to lunch at!
