If you fancy hitting the shops in and around Tunbridge Wells this weekend, Support Local has a Spring Pop-up Fair on Sunday and Mum2Mum has a pre-loved baby and children’s sale. The LUSH store’s Eco Fest continues with more ways to get involved, including a litter pick and bath bomb workshop. Plus, children’s parties with favourite characters and plenty of ways to enjoy the great outdoors.
♥ Explore the disused railway known as the ‘Forest Way‘, a 10 mile stretch ideal for cycling (as well as walking and horse riding) between Groombridge and East Grinstead. We have parked up just outside Groombridge and joined the trail there (you can read about exactly where in this Facebook thread) and have also parked at the old train station in Hartfield and then gone to the little play area in the village afterwards. As it is quite flat, it’s buggy friendly too.
♥ Tunbridge Wells Eco Fest continues on Saturday and Sunday. This 4-day extravaganza launched this year for the first time by the LUSH store in Royal Victoria Place aims to raise awareness of how we can live more ethically. On Saturday 29th February from 1-2pm you can make a bath bomb while discussing the huge ocean plastics problem (on the Upper Level Mall) and on Sunday 1st March join The Great Tunbridge Wells Litter Pick, meeting at 12pm in the LUSH store. Don’t forget to take your milk bottle tops along and help create a turtle installation both days between 11am and 5pm.
♥ Time for a clear out? Gather up your unwanted baby and children’s clothes, toys and equipment and take a stall at the next Mum2Mum pre-loved sale. Or head over to browse and grab some bargains, between 2-4pm on Saturday 29th February at Crowborough Community Centre.
♥ Support Local Pop-up Fairs are a perfect way to shop from a wide range of local businesses all in one place, as well as meet the talented makers. The Support Local Spring Fair is on Sunday 1st March in the lovely One Warwick Park Hotel, Tunbridge Wells, from 10am-4pm. Shop from a selection of handmade cards, beauty products, jewellery, ceramics, art, soft furnishings and much more, in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere.
♥ Celebrate with Once Upon A Wish Events at their 3rd birthday party in the company of 12 magical, well-loved characters, such as princesses, The Snow Sisters! This free event is on Sunday 1st March at 3.30pm at the lovely Central Market in the heart of Tunbridge Wells (Royal Victoria Place). Save the date and look out more information coming soon, there’s bound to be dancing, singing, games and plenty of fun!
♥ Further afield, The Class of Harry Potter is meeting at Manor Barn, Bexhill on Sunday 1st March for some tea-party fun! Book now for a disco, games, sandwiches, cakes and entertainment for your 4-11-year olds between 1.30-3.30pm.
♥ Get back to nature at RSPB’s beautiful Broadwater Warren. Just a few minutes’ drive outside Tunbridge Wells, you’ll find heathland and woodland carefully being restored to its historic habitat of centuries ago, which makes for a peaceful walk and the chance to see rare bird species, adders and insects. The circular walk through the reserve takes about two hours, but you can just go for part of it with the kids and there’s a pond you can walk to a short way off the main path, not far from the car park, where parking is free. Dogs are allowed at this time of year, as long as they are kept on leads.
♥ A day out to the quirky seaside resort of Brighton never disappoints! A wander around The Lanes, rides on the Palace Pier fairground, a scoot along the colourful seafront, a visit to the parks and landmark spotting from the i360 are always favourites of ours. The Marina, Pavilion and museums have all been recommended by My Tunbridge Wells readers – read more HERE, along with alternatives to the busy, expensive town centre carparks. Great for colder cold, wet days, check out the 2 x indoor mini golf courses at GloBalls, filled with glow in the dark dinosaurs and jungle animals, based at Brighton Marina.
