About Rose Hill School

Rose Hill School is an award-winning, independent co-educational prep school for children aged 3 to 13 years. Located just a few minutes from the town centre on a stunning 16-acre campus, we provide a unique “World Built for Them”. A secure, expansive sanctuary where academic rigour meets exceptional pastoral care.

As a standalone prep school, our focus is entirely on the 3 to 13 journey. We don’t just prepare children for exams; we cultivate high-functioning citizens who are curious, resilient, and ready for the UK’s most prestigious senior schools.

The Specialist Compass Curriculum (PACE)

At the heart of a Rose Hill education is our Compass Curriculum, a distinctive framework designed to ensure pupils don’t just acquire knowledge, but learn how to apply it across four key strands:

  • Philanthropy – developing empathy and a sense of responsibility
  • Adventure – building resilience through challenge and outdoor learning
  • Curiosity – nurturing critical thinking and academic ambition
  • Enterprise – encouraging innovation and problem-solving

These are brought to life through our PACE approach (Philanthropy, Adventure, Curiosity and Enterprise), creating a culture where pupils feel supported to explore, question and grow.

Surrounding the Compass is a continuous focus on wellbeing, forming the outer circle that ensures every child feels secure, understood and ready to engage fully in school life.

This is further underpinned by our “5 Keys to Success and Happiness” – persistence, organisation, resilience, confidence and getting along – all held together by the central value of integrity. Together, these guide behaviour, shape character and support every pupil’s personal development.

16 Acres of Learning (Everything On-Site)

Rose Hill pupils enjoy uninterrupted learning with first-class facilities on-site. This allows us to maximise every minute and moment of the day for your child. Our campus includes :

  • Indoor Heated Swimming Pool: Weekly lessons for every child from Nursery upwards.
  • On-Site Woodland Classroom: A dedicated space for Forest School and Outdoor Learning.
  • 220-Seat Theatre: A professional space where every child finds their voice and gains the confidence to perform.
  • Science Labs & STEAM Innovation Hub: Specialist teaching and facilities from an early age.
  • Extensive Sports Fields & Astro Pitches: Supporting 75+ competitive teams across the school.

The “Golden Years”: Senior Prep (Years 7 & 8)

A significant differentiator for Rose Hill is our Senior Prep provision. While many pupils in Tunbridge Wells move to large secondary schools at age 11, our pupils stay for the “Golden Years” of Year 7 and 8.

This stable pathway allows children to take on vital leadership roles – as prefects, mentors, and house captains – building a level of self-assurance and maturity that is invaluable for the 13+ transition. Our senior pupils work towards the Rose Hill Diploma, gaining practical life skills and independent project qualifications that give them a distinct advantage at senior school.
