Essentials for Every Wardrobe

Collaborative Post

Wardrobe essentials are “essential” for a reason. They are the pieces that everyone uses to create outfits and looks, no matter the season, weather, or event you’re attending, formal or casual.

From women’s Ted Baker jackets to casual jeans and sweaters, here are some of the essentials every woman needs in her wardrobe.

Sneakers

A good pair of sneakers, like Nike Air Force 1s, is one of the best pairs of shoes you can own. Not only are they incredibly comfortable, but they’re also very versatile, and can complement almost any outfit.

You can wear them with a summer dress for lunch, or later on for a night on the town. They have a classic silhouette, and the ankle-high variations suit almost any wardrobe, no matter your taste.

Sunglasses

Sunglasses are widely regarded as the one of the most versatile fashion accessories you can wear or own. There are a variety of sunglasses you can choose from such as flip ups and oasis. Flip up sunglasses are great for those who want to quickly switch their look from casual to sophisticated. Oasis sunglasses have the ability to make any outfit look high fashion, while still remaining incredibly useful.

Sunglasses are also very affordable, meaning you can own five, 10, or 20 pairs, with each pair matching one of your key outfits.

Formal shoes

It’s essential to have at least one pair of formal shoes that you would wear to an interview or wedding. Formal shoes are also one of the best ways to turn a semi-casual outfit into a formal outfit.

When choosing formal shoes, always opt for a neutral color such as brown, black, or off-white. These colors will go with almost everything you own, and should be the easiest to find.

Coat

A sleek and stylish coat is a must if you live somewhere that gets cold enough to need one. Coats can be expensive, but if you choose the right one, it will be a sound investment that will keep you warm over many winters to come.

Once again, choose a neutral color for your coat. Browns and cream colors are always great options, as they will make you feel more cozy, with black being the best choice for a sleeker look.

Cocktail dress

As you get older, you’ll get invited to more and more formal events. Unfortunately you can’t wear your favorite hoodie and jeans to them! At some point, you’re going to need to invest in a cocktail dress for all those weddings and birthday parties you’re hopefully going to be invited to.

The best choice is always going to be the little black dress (LBD). It’s a style of dress that is flattering on most body shapes, it’s very versatile, and also incredibly sexy.

Formalwear

Choice of formalwear is very much down to personal taste, but it’s essential that you invest in an outfit or two that’s suitable for work meetings or interviews. This could be a pantsuit, a blouse and pants set, or a pencil skirt and button-up shirt combo. In addition, you can also look for online dress stores where you can get a variety of clothes that suit your style and occasion.

The best way to think about this key outfit is to ask yourself what you would wear for the most significant interview of your life; what message do you want to portray?

Activewear

Everyone should have a collection of activewear. This can include joggers, running shorts, and yoga pants, or anything else you would regularly wear to work out in, or throw on to dash to the store.

There’s no need to overthink these items; they should be comfortable to wear for long periods of time, and robust enough to withstand frequent exercise and constant use.

Summer Wear

Summer Wear is another department where you can choose what suits your taste best. Essentially, you should have a few pairs of shorts, some lightweight shirts, or a few summer dresses at your disposal for when the weather starts to heat up.

Choose lightweight cotton items that are breathable and won’t weigh you down in the heat. Opt for lighter colors, as darker colors will absorb heat and make you feel even hotter.

Jeans

Everyone should own at least one pair of jeans. They are one of the most versatile clothing items of all time, and they can be worn in both casual and semi-formal settings. Most big-brand jeans are very well made, and should last you for years.

While jean skirts are not currently in fashion, a good pair of bootcut or skinny jeans in blue or black will still fit into any wardrobe, acting as a great base for an outfit.
