Five family friendly pubs near Tunbridge Wells

Family friendly pubs near Tunbridge Wells

I am always on the hunt for family friendly pubs near Tunbridge Wells. Given that summer is fast approaching, I have put together a list of my favourite venues which have outdoor space for the kids to run around….

#1 Nevill Crest and Gun, Eridge

Family friendly pubs near Tunbridge WellsThe Nevill Crest and Gun is a beautiful 500 year old former farmhouse and one of my favourite family friendly pubs near Tunbridge Wells.

There is a relaxed atmosphere and lots of outdoor space with a tractor, swings and plenty of seating. For more information, have a look on the Nevill Crest and Gun website here.

#2 Cross Keys, Tunbridge Wells

Family friendly pubs near Tunbridge WellsThe Cross Keys prides itself on being a family friendly Tunbridge Wells pub. During the day, Cross Keys offers a full cafe and lunch menu.

Parents with children are welcome and very well kept baby change facilities are available, in addition to a beautiful lawned garden with play area away from the road and a gated patio.

The pub has an indoor play area for under 5’s with a selection of toys and books from 11am to 3pm, Monday to Friday during term time. For more information, visit the Cross Keys website here

We have a great choice of family friendly pubs near Tunbridge Wells!!

#3 The Poacher & Partridge, Tudeley

Family friendly pubs near Tunbridge WellsSituated in the heart of the Kentish countryside, The Poacher & Partridge is a picturesque family friendly pub near Tunbridge Wells.

This pub’s food is fantastic and it even has its own wood fired oven for making perfect pizzas. A brand new children’s play area and outside bar opened today (Sunday 17th May 2015) which I will be reporting back on soon 🙂

#4 Little Brown Jug, Chiddingstone Causeway

Family friendly pubs near Tunbridge WellsThe Little Brown Jug is an old favourite, opposite Penshurst train station on Chiddingstone Causeway. There is a very relaxed feel to this pub and the outdoor garden has plenty to keep the little ones occupied.

We have eaten here several times and enjoyed everything we have tried. It can be busy on the weekend (a good sign!) so make sure you book beforehand if you can. For more information on the Little Brown Jug, click here

#5 The Plough, Leigh

Family friendly pubs near Tunbridge WellsThe Plough in Leigh is an independent family friendly pub near Tunbridge Wells which ticks many of the boxes for me – the food is good, it’s in a great countryside location, it has a lovely ‘English’ country pub feel to it and a superb garden and play area – perfect for summer!

During the summer months, The Plough is open all day (Tues to Fri) and after school teas are provided. Children can choose from a kids menu consisting of real but popular food or something from the main menu served as a half portion for half the price. 1. Two great ones we discovered last year – The Brown Trout – near Bewl Water: has a free bouncy castle and climbing frame etc in the garden and even does a free kids’ buffet on a Fri evening; and The Halfway House in Brenchley – its really quirky with loads of beams and wonky floors and has a fantastic outside space. Xx

    • Fantastic – thanks Janey! I have passed by The Brown Trout but didn’t know anything about bouncy castle and climbing frame etc. The Halfway House sounds like just my sort of thing too. These two are definitely at the top of my list of must-visits this summer. We may be going to Bewl next wkend as they are doing a pirate themed event so could check out the brown trout then 🙂 xxx

  2. The mark cross at mark cross, there’s a great play area and for Sunday lunch you can get a board with a whole chicken with all the trimmings. Which ends up being more cost effective than everyone having a seperate meal.
