4 reasons why I’ll be taking my daughter to a football game this Spring

My daughter loves playing football. It offers her a team sport that is guaranteed to put a smile on her face and a spring in her step. She is always happier once she’s been playing. One thing we haven’t done yet is take her to a professional football game. I am really looking forward to doing so. Here are my top 4 reasons why I’ll be taking my daughter to a football game this Spring.

1) Atmosphere

Literally nothing beats the atmosphere in a football stadium during a game of football, especially if the score is close. The excitement and singing creates so much energy and I can’t wait for her to experience that for herself. She’s almost 10 so, as yet, she hasn’t attended any big live events like this. But when the time comes, I think she is going to love it.

2) Involvement in the leagues across Europe

My girl loves to collect facts so she’s a prime candidate for following different leagues, tournaments and competitions. She would be able to tell you the Bundesliga top scorers and the last few years’ winners of major league competitions. Her focus and love for the game is inspiring to see. She enjoys being able to give the boys a run for their money when they’re discussing the results from the past few days.

3) Team work

There are a lot of solo activities that children seem to get involved in but football is a great team sport. I can’t place enough value on the importance of learning to work in a team, accepting responsibility for looking out for each other, encouraging and commiserating together. The core values of playing football are such important life skills. The team she plays for demonstrate this so well it’s heartwarming to watch. I can’t wait for her to see it in action live and am so glad that she has found a hobby (or sport?) that she is passionate about. Although I wasn’t a fan of football as a child, I think my personal passion for it is growing as my daughter becomes more involved in the sport.

4) Inspiration

Going to see something you love right in front of you is incredibly moving and inspirational. Whether football is your passion or it’s theatre, you will get the same buzz from seeing it live. I know how much going to see a football game will inspire my daughter to try harder, train more and practice all those skills and tricks they cover in training. Her passion for the game is ingrained in who she is, to watch her at her first football game is going to be so much fun.

I hope you enjoyed reading this blog post. We all have hopes and aspirations for our children and seeing them enjoy a sport or hobby is just so satisfying. Football is such an accessible sport that doesn’t rely on great weather or expensive equipment. It is also portable which is great when you have kids! Are you a football fan?
