There’s a fantastic variety of ways to get out and about in Tunbridge Wells this weekend so read on if you’re looking for ideas to spend the day or just a couple of hours with the family!
Southborough and High Brooms have their own family festival and Paws in the Park is back with the new doggy activities. Heritage Open Days continue this weekend and are a great opportunity learn more about the area we live in – all of them free. Plus, The Repair Cafe is back at Trinity Theatre! Yay! We have lots more ideas to enjoy too….
♥ There’s something for everyone at Southborough & High Brooms Fun Family Festival on Saturday 18th September at the new Civic Centre and Ridgewaye Fields. The day kicks off at 10.30 with a festival parade, followed by live music, arts & craft stalls, dog show, family sports, competitions and more, including stepping back in time for a Vintage Tea Dance at 3.30pm.
♥ Rusthall Primary School invites the local community to their Autumn Fair on Saturday 18th September from 11.30am – 2pm for refreshments, games, tombola and raffles.
♥ Four legged friends and their families can expect a pawsome day out (sorry!) at Kent’s biggest doggy day out, this weekend at the Showground, Detling. Paws in the Park Autumn Show has plenty of ways to take part; try out new doggy activities, games, agility and water sports, plus amazing dog shows and lots of shopping!
♥ Thomas & Friends are coming to the Odeon Cinema Tunbridge Wells this weekend starring in their latest movie release; Race for the Sodor Cup (U) at 10.10 on Saturday.
♥ Get inspired to garden and show the children how their food grows at Hawkenbury Allotments on Saturday 18th September. This Heritage Open Day is a rare opportunity to see the variety of vegetables, fruit and flowers grown on around 300 plots and meet the resident hens. 30-minute guided tours between 2-4pm.
♥ Have a fun afternoon out seeing the family-favourite movie Paddington (PG). Screening at the Trinity Theatre on Sunday 19th September at 12pm.
♥ If you love Grosvenor & Hilbert Park, Heritage Open Days are offering free guided walks exploring the historic and renewed features, plants and animals this Sunday 19th September at 2.30pm. Don’t miss the exhibition of the Park’s history in The Hub too.
♥ The gorgeous village of Benenden is hosting their annual fete this Saturday from midday until 4pm on The Green. Expect dance displays, a dog talent show, Morris Dancers, Cow Pat Bingo and all the usual fun of the fair!
♥ Can you tell a buckler from a basinet? Visit National Trust’s Bodiam Castle this weekend and brush up on your Medieval Armour knowledge!! Get up close to replica armour which would have been wielded by knights at the castle and meet the experts between 10.30 – 15.30 in the courtyard. This is one of our favourite National Trusts. Perhaps pop into The Hub while you are in the area too?
♥ For some action-packed indoor entertainment, Heathfield’s Urban Jump has over 25,000 sq. ft of trampoline-based fun. From ball pits to walls to scale, dodge ball and basketball plus a timetable of events, including Family Jump sessions and soft play. There are two large café areas if you’ve worked up an appetite or fancy a coffee while the kids bounce!
