Paddock Wood Garden Centre
The Paddock Wood Garden Centre is fully embracing Christmas this year with loads of decorations and plenty of gifts. They are also sell amazing Christmas model villages, which will be sure to enchant children. I have always wanted one to start a model village collection so maybe this will be my year! Their cafe is currently closed during Tier 3.

You could easily spend a whole day at Polhill (when there’s no pandemic on!) as it’s so huge. The play zone alone makes it worth a visit once restrictions ease with go karts, mini golf and a boating pool. Sadly this is all shut at the moment, and their café is open just for takeaway, but their Christmas shop with amazing decorations is still open along with the aquatics centre. Be prepared for queues though! However to avoid this, if you are prepared to buy something from the foodhall, you can go directly in there (we only had to wait a couple of mins) and then into the garden centre directly from there.

Tunbridge Wells Garden Centre (formerly known as Wyevale)
Tucked under the bridge as you head out on the Eridge Road, Tunbridge Wells Garden Centre has a lovely little Christmas section. It might not be quite as big as other centres on our list, but there’s a huge gift section to the shop too meaning you can kill two birds (turkeys?) with one stone. Also, their car wash is one of the best car washes in Tunbridge Wells, so that’s three jobs done in one visit! Plus it is local so no need to travel far…

Sussex Country Gardener
What Sussex Country Garden doesn’t sell isn’t worth having – they have everything from cuddly toys, to plants and even a COOK section. In normal times their grotto is great, but this year they’re not running it and have scaled back the display. Thankfully the singing penguins are there thought. The spectacular Millbrook garden centres have opened its Christmas department again. We absolutely love the sound of their Christmas song theme to their display. You can also head to their website to book onto festive workshops and their Christmas mini golf at their Staplehurst branch. Their fish tank section is also a massive hit with kids – it’s like a mini aquarium. Please note, Millbrook Crowborough is in East Sussex which is in Tier 2. Millbrook Staplehurst is in Tier 3. A truly magical display awaits at Ruxley Manor – so good it’s award winning in fact! Normally they have a skating rink, but instead of that this year they have a virtual sleigh ride! The ride involves flying across the globe in Father Christmas’ sleigh on a test flight before Christmas Eve. Ruxley Manor have also gone ahead with their grotto this year, though tickets are sold out. I haven’t had a chance to visit but I’m told a visit to Ruxley is wonderful. Please note, Ruxley Manor is Tier 2. Please follow the government guidelines.
