Hilden Grange Preparatory School

Year-Round Nursery Launching in January 2027

ad. For families looking for a nursery in and around Tunbridge Wells, finding the right balance between high-quality early education and flexibility can be an important consideration. From January 2027, Hilden Grange Preparatory School will be expanding its Nursery provision to offer a new 50-week-a-year model, alongside its existing 35-week term-time option.

The new provision has been designed to give families greater choice, while providing young children with an engaging and nurturing introduction to school life.

Located in Tonbridge, Hilden Grange offers a welcoming Early Years environment where children are encouraged to develop confidence, independence and curiosity from the very beginning of their educational journey. The Nursery is available to children from the academic term in which they turn three, with the extended provision offering wraparound care from 7.30am to 6pm.

A flexible nursery option for modern families

The introduction of the 50-week Nursery from January 2027 gives parents the option of accessing nursery provision for significantly more of the year, including school holiday periods, while retaining the choice of the existing term-time model.

For families balancing work and family life, the combination of flexible attendance and extended hours can make the transition into school more manageable, without compromising on the quality of their child’s early learning experience.

Applications for the January 2027 Nursery provision are now open.

A strong foundation for learning

At Hilden Grange, Nursery is the beginning of a child’s wider educational journey. The Early Years curriculum follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), combining teacher-led teaching with child-initiated exploration and play.

Children are supported to develop across all seven areas of the EYFS, including communication and language, physical development, personal, social and emotional development, literacy, mathematics, understanding the world, and expressive arts and design. Learning is carefully tailored to children’s individual interests, helping them to develop important skills while nurturing their natural curiosity.

The Nursery is led by experienced Early Years specialists, with children also benefiting from specialist teaching in areas including Music, Drama and PE, giving them an enriched introduction to different areas of learning from an early age.

State-of-the-art facilities and outdoor learning

One of the highlights of the Hilden Grange Early Years experience is the school’s state-of-the-art facilities, which provide children with a stimulating environment in which to learn, play and explore.

Purpose-built Early Years classrooms have been carefully designed to encourage discovery, creativity and independence, with dedicated spaces for imaginative play, construction, art, books and exploration.

Learning doesn’t stop at the classroom door. Hilden Grange places a strong emphasis on outdoor learning, with children able to enjoy a bespoke outdoor area as well as the school’s extensive grounds. The Early Years facilities include an outdoor classroom, adventure playground and wooden trim trail, alongside opportunities to explore nature and develop physical skills.

Children can also benefit from the school’s heated swimming pool and dedicated Forest School provision, providing further opportunities to build confidence, independence and resilience through hands-on experiences.

A happy and confident start to school

The early years are an important time for children to develop not only academically, but also socially and emotionally. At Hilden Grange, wellbeing is at the heart of the Early Years experience, with teachers working closely with children and their families to help each child settle, feel secure and develop at their own pace.

The result is an environment where children are encouraged to be curious, try new things and become increasingly independent, while building the foundations they need for the next stage of their education.

For families considering Nursery or Reception, the new 50-week provision from January 2027 offers the opportunity to combine a high-quality Early Years education with greater flexibility for family life.
