Now I’m sure I’m not the only one who loves to wander down The Pantiles in Tunbridge Wells? In fact I think a stroll is well overdue. The gorgeous Hattons is open daily with the exception of Mondays and offers a super selection coffees and more. They have also introduced some fresh items across the Hattons online store too, featuring gifts, gins, and homewares, as well as added options from The Wine Rooms’s cellar!

The Inside

The Inside has been doing a brilliant job at supplying amazing takeaway coffees and treats from their venue in Calverley Adventure Grounds. Wonderful for keeping warm during these wintery days while watching the kids play! They are currently open Fridays 10am to 2pm as well as Saturdays and Sundays, 10am to 4pm.

Juliet’s Cafe

An absolute favourite for sooooo many people living in and visiting Tunbridge Wells. I remember when Juliet’s opened and have been a fan of it ever since. They are currently open for takeaway Tuesday to Friday from 8.30am to 2.30pm, Saturdays from 9.30am to 3pm and Sundays from 10am to 4pm. An absolute treat!

The Black Dog Cafe

Enjoy exceptional coffee & vibrant, delicious food at The Black Dog Cafe for either breakfast, brunch or lunch to takeaway. Based on Camden Road, this is an old-time favourite of mine. Their flat whites remind me of the happy time I spent living in Oz. Open Monday to Friday from 8am to 2.30pm and Saturday / Sunday from 9am to 3pm.

Hudsons Bistro 

A brand new addition to Chapel Place (between The High Street and The Pantiles), Hudsons is open for breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea. There are plenty of larger tables and cosier spots on the ground and basement floors for food, drinks or simply a luxurious hot chocolate (once dining indoors is allowed) as well as an intimate private dining room upstairs that can be booked for special occasions or business lunches. For now, pop in for a takeaway and welcome this lovely new venue to our town.

The Green Duck Emporium

Sellers of interesting things as well as a charming coffee house too, The Green Duck Emporium is an independent family-run shop and cafe in the quirky part of Tunbridge Wells – on Grosvenor Road (the hill heading down into Tunbridge Wells). The Green Duck is now open for open for hot drinks, cake and savoury treats in their cosy courtyard which is the perfect spot for you to have that long awaited catch up with friends.

Fine Grind at The Forum and also on The High Street

Fine Grind is located on both the High Street in Tunbridge Wells and at The Forum. Why not have a wander around the gorgeous Tunbridge Wells Common and wind up at either branch for something lovely? Expect coffee, hot drinks, fresh baked pastries and cakes! Fine Grind @ The Forum is open from 7.30am until 3pm Monday to Friday, 7.30am to 5pm Saturday and 9am to 4pm Sunday. The opening hours at Fine Grind on the High Street are 8am to 4pm Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm Saturday and 9am to 4pm Sunday.

Even Flow

The lovely Even Flow which was brand new to St John’s just before lockdown is open for takeaway. This family run coffee and music shop has such a lovely atmosphere and is a really welcome addition to Tunbridge Wells! Opening hours are Monday to Friday, 9.30am to 2.30pm and Saturdays & Sundays, 10am to 3pm. Enjoy coffees, cakes, savoury, snacks, smoothies, milkshakes, juices and soda as well as their awesome music and books (free hot drink with every purchase). The price list is on their website and on Insta / Facebook. Customers can still pre-order music as well and pick up with their hot drink (list is in their Insta bio).

CurlyVera’s Coffee

independent cafes open for takeaway in Tunbridge Wells

CurlyVera’s Coffee is back on Tunbridge Wells Common, close to Wellington Rocks and The Cricket Pavilion. Open daily from 8.30am to 2pm with the exception of Thursdays, Curlyveras has a loyal following of customers and makes standing around in the cold watching my children clamber over the rocks far more bearable. Dog walkers, exercisers and locals alike are big fans of her quality coffee, teas, hot chocolate and yummy treats! In case you are wondering, cards are accepted.

The Bicycle Bakery

From freshly baked bread to to cinnamon buns and lemon meringue pies, The Bicycle Bakery on Camden Road continues to serve the deserving people of Tunbridge Wells with their  tantalising selection of baked goods. Open from 8am to 4pm Tuesday to Saturday, their Instagram feed is bound to make your mouth water! Well done to The Bicycle Bakery for keeping a providing a semblance of normality and routine for the people of Tunbridge Wells!

♥ The Earl Grey  

The Earl Grey in Southborough has been really popular with locals since it re-opened recently, and rightly so! The opening hours are Friday to Sunday, 9.30am to 2.30pm and there are lots of scrummy options to choose from, both sweet and savoury. They are also offering an Afternoon Tea and Cream Tea delivery service to your door in Southborough! Call on 01892 258800 or message via Instagram or Facebook to place your order.

The Kingdom, Penshurst

Takeaway drinks are available from The Kingdom on Saturdays and Sundays. Place your order whilst you’re on site using the Goodeats app. You’ll then be alerted when your drink is ready to collect from The Woodland Market.

If you haven’t been up there before we can highly recommend it. There’s a short walk you can do around the grounds too – good for going on with a toddler! Check out the woodland market open daily too, 9am to 4pm.

Momentum on Mount Pleasant

Have you visited the marvellous Momentum Cafe on Mount Pleasant in Tunbridge Wells – on the same side of the street just down from JoJoMamanBebe? This independent cafe is completely passionate about COFFEE, brunches and cake!

Their main mission is to serve high quality specialty coffee, in a relaxed atmosphere, along with simple, fresh and delicious food. Pop in for your takeaway and say hello to this (fairly new) institution in Tunbridge Wells!

Daily Bread Rusthall

The delightful Daily Bread in Rusthall open for takeaway from Tuesday to Saturday, 9am to 3pm. Look out for cakes, coffee, bread & sandwiches and smiling faces behind the masks! Phone in your order on 01892 457007 or pop in…

Casa de Claudia 

Casa de Claudia on Castle Street just off Tunbridge Wells High Street is a quaint cafe with incredible sandwiches and so much more. They are open for takeaway from Monday to Saturday, 8am to 4pm and Sundays, 9am to 3pm. A handy place to visit when you are in this lovely part of Tunbridge Wells.

The Cake Shed

Well isn’t this a great name for cafe? They had me at cake! Located in The Pantiles, The Cake Shed is an independent Tunbridge Wells cafe, serving deluxe cake, fantastic Coffee, luxury loose tea, gourmet sandwiches and a cosy atmosphere. My kind of place!

Gail’s Bakery

I wondered whether to include this as I’m not sure if Gail’s Bakery is classed as an independent cafe anymore? There are over 60 branches so I’m guessing not? Gail’s Bakery has recently opened on The High Street in Tunbridge Wells for takeaway and it is already proving very popular! Check out out yourself and let me know what you think?

The Zero Waste Company

The Zero Waste Company is such a fantastic addition to The Pantiles. They are continuing to serve take aways from their cafe during this lockdown – including coffee, cake, soup and stew! Plus all of their usual pastries, baked goods, bread and fresh produce. Opening hours are Monday to Saturday, 8.30am to 5.30pm and Sundays, 10am to 4pm.   

The Lodge Coffee House

Located on The High Street in Tunbridge Wells, near Anthropology, The Lodge is open from 8am to 5pm Monday to Saturday and 9.30am to 5pm on Sundays. The Lodge has been open in Tunbridge Wells since November and I’m looking forward to sampling all that they have to offer!

Manuels Cafe & Bakery

Manuels is a favourite family cafe and bakery selling delicious food, coffee, bread & cakes. Located in St John’s next to the brilliant Bloom Foundry and also on Rusthall High Street, their peanut butter and salted caramel brownies (see pic) are a must try! Both branches are open 7am to 3pm Monday to Friday for takeaway and from 7.30am to 2pm on Saturdays.


Gusta, an authentic Italian delicatessen and Wine Bar on Camden Road is open for takeaway too. They also recently celebrated their 6th anniversary since opening. Happy Birthday Gusta!

The beautiful Basil Cafe in St John’s is open for takeaway! Delicious and wholesome food with great coffee too…Pop in or call 01892 526422 to arrange delivery to your home (or office). Visit Basil online for their full menu.

14 Arrows Tattoos & Coffee


Combining a unique blend of Ink, Coffee and 80’s Nostalgia, 14 Arrows Tattoos & Coffee is now located on Grosvenor Road in Tunbridge Wells (number 69 in case you are wondering). Open Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursday to Saturday from 7am to 3pm, pop in for your takeaway coffee and enjoy the neon glow!

Table 8 at Grosvenor & Hilbert Park

I have been advised that the cafe at Grosvenor & Hilbert Park is  open for takeaways. I’ll update this post as soon as I get more details…

♥  Rascal’s Coffee
Alex from Rascal’s Coffee has a truck outside the Huntsman in Eridge which comes highly recommended. He is there most days and apparently the coffee and hot chocolate are particularly good! You can also spot him outside Groombridge Farmshop occasionally too. Chek out the Facebook page to see where he is!

Arte Bianca

Arte Bianca, a much loved Italian Delicatessen at the entrance to Chapel Place (the Pizza Express end) is open for take away from 9am-4pm, Tuesday to Saturday. As well as amazing coffee, Gianni and his team are offering cheeses, cured meats, olives and delightful deli items as well as dried and cupboard items and  fresh produce.  A product list is available on their website and you can order on 01892 510554 before collecting in store.

  2. Langton green pavilion cafe.enjoyed good coffee and cake there in the Autumn, recently re-opened, weekdays only (I think)
