Inspired ideas for adults and kids from Jaques of London

Ad – this is a collaborative post.

When you grab an item for your children and you find you love it as much as them, that’s a beautiful thing. That’s happened to me twice recently with items from Jaques of London. Read on to find out what they were…

If your house is anything like mine, then it feels like the kids are taking over. From our bed to our sofa to our favourite mug – everything seems to become theirs. And they already have so much stuff of their own! It’s just not fair.

But now I am getting my revenge (don’t worry, it’s a “nice” revenge – they still get something out of it too). Recently I bought two items from Jaques of London for my children and ended up realising I loved them just as much – if not more – than my kids.

Who are Jaques of London?

Jaques of London are a family-founded, family-run business. They’ve been going since the 18th Century – yep, you read that right my friends. They invented some of our best-loved games and toys including croquet and ping pong – so they’re expert in coming up with ideas that appeal to kids and adults alike.

The business has an ethos of producing toys that create family time together – and quality family time at that. All their products are fantastically made and built to last, with many of the toys being made from sustainably sourced woods.

Here’s how we got on with two of their brilliant products.

Jaques of London Jigsaw Puzzle Board – Portable Puzzle Accessory

If your family is anything like mine, you’ll love a puzzle. We love trying to do bigger ones together and have got quite a strategy for how to piece the puzzle together, with everyone having a job.

But sometimes other things get in the way of puzzling – school, work etc! – and we need to store the puzzle away rather than trying to eat around it on the kitchen table. So I got this brilliant puzzle board “for the kids”. But actually I love it. It’s really well made and keeps all our puzzles in pristine condition. It’d actually be great if you were going away with family in the UK and ended up doing a puzzle but didn’t have time to finish it – bring it back in this and finish the puzzle at home. Perfect!

Jaques of London Six Dot Dominoes Game

Another item I bought for the kids but ended up loving myself was this dominoes game. I never realised how addictive this game is!

I also found that dominoes are a great way to talk to younger children about matching and numbers and amounts. I had lots of fun with my little one playing a very simple, pared back version of dominoes.

This set comes in a lovely wooden box, and is great for taking on the go with you to restaurants and on holiday as it’s so compact. All the pieces are hand painted and feel beautifully weighted in your hand.
