Find out more about Jaques of London, a family run UK store…
AD – This is a collaborative post.
We have been testing out some of the gorgeous wooden toys from Jaques of London and wanted to share what we thought about them with you. We also have a reader offer of 15% off your purchase which we hope you’ll enjoy – more about that at the end of the post… But first of all…
What is Jaques of London?
Jaques is the oldest toys and games manufacturer in the world! Established in 1795, this family run toys and games retailer has been passed down through eight generations. They are responsible for inventing many well-known games such as Croquet, The Staunton Chess Set, Ping Pong, Snakes and Ladders, Ludo, and many more!
The Jaques website is full of wonderful wooden toys for children, many of which are educational and all of which are colourful and engaging.
What sort of toys are available from Jaques?
The two main sections of the Jaques site are ‘toys’ and ‘games’. Within this, visitors can select an age they are shopping for, gender or a specific type – including dinosaur toys, educational toys, puzzles, garden toys and many more. The website is really well laid out and the image and description of each item is perfect.
What toys did we choose from Jaques of London?
We were given the option to review two toys and chose the Wooden London Bus and Wooden Noah’s Ark.
Both toys arrived in individually branded ‘Jaques of London’ boxes, tied with a bow. This gave the toys a really high-end feel without the high-end price tag and would make an ideal gift too.
The Wooden London Bus…
The Wooden London Bus has an RRP of £21.99 and is made out of 100% FSC approved wood with sturdy, smooth running wheels. The wooden bus comes complete with removable passengers and the toy is top quality with intricate detail on both the figures and bus itself.
My daughter has loved playing with this, removing and inserting the figures again and again and teaming it up with some of her toy cars. She also likes to use the figures in other games and in her dolls-house too. I love seeing her engage in imaginative play with this toy and her six year old brother enjoys playing with it too.
The Wooden Noah’s Ark
As well as encouraging imaginative play, playing with the little figures and moving them around the boat also helps to improve fine motor skills.
Our overall thoughts about Jaques toys
We thought the Jaques toys were really high quality, traditional, bright and well priced toys with intricate details. I would buy toys from Jaques of London both for my own children and as gifts and am looking forward to browsing the site again soon.
We are delighted to be teaming up with Jaques to offer 15% off your purchase. If you buy something from the site, please do let us know what you think of it in the comments below. We hope you love it just as must as we do!
