#1 Junior Jet Skiing – Tuesday 31 May to Friday 3 June
Tunbridge Wells Sports Centre (St Johns Road, TN4 9TX) is hosting junior jet skiing sessions for just £6 per child. Specifically for children aged 3-7, participants can take to the water on a jet ski for an hour from 9-10am. This sounds like a super thing to do during May Half Term! #2 Whippersnippers Open Day – Tuesday 31 May
The much anticipated children’s hairdressers, Whippersnippers, is hosting an Open Day on Tuesday between 10am and 3pm in it’s brand new salon at 26c Camden Road. Your little ones can have their faces painted for free, meet Queen Elsa and take a look at the new salon, which I’m sure will be a hit with us local parents!
#3 Fun on the farm at Bore Place – Tuesday 31 May to Thursday 2 June
I was very excited to hear about these half-term activities at Bore Place, an organic dairy farm near Chiddingstone. There is a packed programme of activities over half term, suited to primary school aged children (though older children are welcome) from 10am-1pm, led by an expert tutor team.
Tuesday starts with Baking Treats (£15), while Wednesday is an interactive Nature Trail (£10) and Thursday brings Mud Glorious Mud (£10)! Children can join in an optional tour of the farm too. Visit the Bore Place website here to find out more or email email@example.com to book your place.
#4 Happy Birthday Minnie – Tuesday 31 May to Friday 3 June
Tunbridge Wells Museum & Art Gallery is running ‘Happy Birthday Mini’ drop in sessions throughout the week during half term.
It’s time to wish everybody’s favourite museum mascot, Minnie LuLu a very happy 145th Birthday! Born on 29 May 1871, she has delighted many visitors over the years and children can celebrate with Minnie themed arts & crafts! Children get to make their own Minnie LuLu to take home with them; take part in all of the puppy themed arts & crafts and follow in Minnie’s footsteps and uncover her favourite parts of the Museum! #5 Dino Week at Maidstone Museum – Tuesday 31 to Friday 3 June
Maidstone Museum is hosting a week of fun-filled, dinosaur-themed activities to keep the kids entertained. Suggested for children aged 4-11 years, there will be four sessions throughout the day: 10:30-11:30, 11:30-12:30, 13:00-14:00, 14:00-15:00. Children wil get to do a different activiy each day including making a dino headdress, a dino body costume, dino feet & claws and a volcano. The cost is £3 per child. #6 Baby Rock Cafe – Wednesday 1 June
Baby Rock Cafe with Hartbeeps is taking place this Wednesday from 10 to 11.30am at Brenchley Memorial Hall. This is a stay and play session for babies and toddlers with different play zones, a baby area, refreshments, photo booth with Stephanie Chapman and Baby Disco. Entry is £5 per child and tickets can be booked here.
#7 Forest Footsteps – Wednesday 1 and Thursday 2 June
I love the sound of these Forest School sessions which are held in an ancient woodland in Hawkhurst this half term, from 9am-1pm on Wedndsay and Thurday. With mud sliding, tree climbing, den building, tool use and campfire cookery, these sessions are £25 which includes a cooked snack, a cooked lunch, fruit and biscuits. #8 Danny The Champion of the World – Wednesday 1 and Thursday 2 June
I don’t know about you but I adored reading the Roald Dahl books when growing up, so seeing Danny The Champion of the World at Hever Festival Theatre sounds like a good option for half term. This is the first of three fantastic family shows this season, taking place in the Summer open-air theatre in the beautiful grounds of Hever Castle. The show starts at 2.30pm and ticket-holders can enjoy the grounds until 6pm. More information here.
#9 All Things Nature and Craft – Wednesday 1 June
A fantastic family friendly event at Grosvenor & Hilbert Park with lots of different nature themed activities including nature crowns, fairy furniture, a scavenger hunt and much more! This FREE session is running on Wedensday from 1-4pm at The Hub, Grosvenor & Hilbert Park (TN2 3SF). More information on the Facebook page here.
#10 Babyballet Workshops – Thursday 2 June
Babyballet invites all little stars, their siblings and their friends to join them during the half-term break for a babyballet® beach party! The seaside themed session is with Miss Jess from 10:30 – 11:30am on Thursday. Held at Christ Church in central Tunbridge Wells (TN1 1UT), the workshop is open to children aged 18 months – 6 years. #11 Wicked Productions Dance & Music Show – Thursday 2 June
Known around Tunbridge Wells for his Panto antics, Tom Swift will be appearing this half term at PUP Cafe for a very special dance and magic show. Join the hilarious Tom (his mother’s words) for a fun hour of entertainment and shenanigans at 1.30pm on Thursday 2nd June. #12 Free Cycle Ride – Thursday 2 June
Sevenoaks District Council is running free bike rides again this year. Led by trained cycle leaders, participants will be guided along the way around Knole Park in a gentle 90 minute ride at a slower pace with breaks and traffic-free paths. These rides are suitable for families with small children and are open to all ages and abilities – places must be booked in advance. Find out more here.
#13 Wheels on Debussy – Friday 3 June
The Wheels on Debussy is rolling into Tonbridge on Friday with coffee, craft and pastries from 10am, followed by a high quality classical music experience at 10.30 to 11.15am. Each concert is performed by exceptionally talented world-class musicians in a relaxed environment and babies and toddlers are able to roam free whilst they and their carers experience some wonderful music. This month, jazz violinist Benet McLean will be performing – the concert is at St Peter & Paul’s Church and tickets can be booked here.
#14 Shell and Bead Wind Chime Workshop – Friday 3 June
The fantastic Freckles & Fire is hosting a Shell and Bead Wind Chime Workshop from 10am to 11.30am this Friday at it’s new venue in Fine Grind (on the Tunbridge Wells High Street)
We may be a little way from the beach but there’s nothing stopping us creating our own little bit of seaside at home! With shells and beads galore, your little one will come home with a rather whimsical wind chime to hang inside or out! Find out more here.
#15 An Edwardian School – Saturday 28th May to Sunday 5th June
Visit Hever Castle (TN8 7NG ) for an Edwardian School experience with costumed characters, traditional games and prizes for the best dressed boy and girl. Go back in time to the early 20th century and enjoy a fascinating glimpse of the Edwardian era just before the First World War when the Astors were in residence. #16 Odeon Kids Screenings – Saturday 28 May to Thursday 2 June
Odeon Tunbridge Wells is showing Kung Fu Panda 3 at 10am and Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip at 10.30am as part of Odeon Kids. Tickets are just £2.50 even when booked online. Visit the Odeon website for advanced bookings or to find out more.
#17 Children’s Centre Sessions
The local Tunbridge Wells District Children’s Centres have several activities for babies and pre-school aged children taking place throughout the year, many of which continue during half-term. These include Boogy Mites and Sensory Explorers. I have uploaded the timetable here.

#21 Tractor Ted’s Little Farm Live – Saturday 4th June
Tractor Ted’s Little Farm Live is visiting Sussex Country Gardener on Saturday 4th June from 11am to 3pm. Activities include a Tractor Ted bouncy castle, petting farm, digger den & bouncy animals and giant jigsaws. There will also be falconry, face-painting, balloon animals and a BBQ too. It’s £5 entry per child, adults go free and booking is essential – call 01892 852 828 to book your place today.
