This is a collaborative post with Sacred Heart, Wadhurst.
Our lucky pupils at Sacred Heart, Wadhurst have returned back to school to a brand new 3G MUGA (multi use games area) pitch. We have finally said goodbye to our waterlogged, muddy sports field and are now able to play outdoors in all weathers.
Construction was undertaken during the summer holidays and the pitch was finished mid September, so the children were able to enjoy PE and playtimes on the new pitch before the schools were closed due to Covid.
Now, as we emerge from a wintry lockdown, the pitch is getting full use from both our little ones in Nursery through to our much larger and competitive Year 6s! From hula-hooping at playtime to the vast range of team sports on offer: football, cricket, netball, rounders, hockey, rugby and pop lacrosse, the MUGA is the perfect surface for all disciplines.
Hopefully it won’t be too much longer until we can eventually use the MUGA to participate in our usual full schedule of Interschool fixtures. The children have really missed the tournaments and matches which normally fill our terms’ calendar, as well as our after school clubs which would usually be taking place. However, we look forward to a summer of hard training, honing skills and of course, all those games of Tag at playtime!
