Mysteries in Time Subscription Box

What did we think?

From a parent’s perspective, I thought this was such a lovely subscription box, full of materials that were both fun and educational and something my child was genuinely interested in too.

From my 8 year old’s perspective, he was excited to open the box and as he had learned about Ancient Egypt earlier in they year in school, he seemed even more keen to do it. He was especially enthusiastic to see if he could remember some of that facts he has already learned. These were the highlights for him:

  • The book following Katie and Max on their adventure. I initially read it to him and then he read it out loud to his brother and sister after the first couple of chapters. It took him a few days to complete it which was nice as the box then lasts longer than just an afternoon of activity.
  • The Egyptian Mummy pen! He has been carrying it around with him non-stop, much to his brother’s envy!
  • The quiz! Who doesn’t love a quiz? It was multiple choice and the Q&As were at just the right level for him.
  • The craft! We received air dry clay and my son made an amulet with the clay for both he and his brother. He did a much better job than I could ever do!

Mysteries in Time Subscription Box

I liked being able to find Egypt on the world map (it took me longer than it should have!) and my other two children loved the Egyptian stickers. So all in all, there was actually something for everyone.

My overall thoughts…

This subscription box promotes learning without the children even realising they are doing it. After months of home schooling, this is definitely my type of box. It is something we would like to subscribe too and I’ll be interested to see what the future boxes will contain. It would make a great gift from a grandparent (for example).

The materials are colourful, well designed, good quality and well thought out. Well done to Mysteries in Time for creating such a brilliant box!
