Wondering where to Pick your Own in Kent & East Sussex?

Strawberry picking is in full swing at many of our local farms.  Pick Your Own in Kent and East Sussex is a great outdoor alternative for families around Tunbridge Wells as well as some fantastic walks and bike rides which we have written about too. Nearly all of the farms are open now but please do check with the farm before visiting to ensure it is open and that it has the fruit that you are planning to pick!

Top Tip: A lot of the farms update their Facebook pages with info about which fruit ‘pickable’ during that week, so it is worth having a look before your visit…

1.Maynards Fruits  

Where: Maynards Pick Your Own, Maynards Farm, Windmill Hill / Cross Lane, Wadhurst, TN5 7HQ,
When: Daily, 9.30am to 5.30pm – opens 1 July

What the parents say: So many votes for this one! Lots of different fruit and always very tasty. The cherries and strawberries there are gorgeous. Crops aren’t great for Maynards this year sadly, so the offering will be limited.

2. Lower Ladysden Farm

Where: Lower Ladysden Farm, Winchet Hill, Goudhurst, Kent, TN17 1JX
When: Open for the season, but please check social media for current availability.

What the parents say: Fresh produce from the heart of the Weald. Beautiful setting, that includes a lovely farm shop, selling cake and drinks to enjoy in the outdoor seating area. Note – the strawberries are quite high up at Lower Ladysden so if you do have little people with you, you may need to lift them up.

3. Stonepitts Farm PYO

Where: Stonepitts Farm, Watery Lane, Seal Chart, Sevenoaks, TN15 0ER
When: 10am to 5pm, Monday to Sunday – from 16 June.

What the parents say: Very family friendly, popular and reasonably priced too. Strawberries are all grown the old fashioned way.

4. Sharnfold Farm

Where: Sharnfold Farm, Hailsham Rd, Stone Cross, Pevensey BN24 5BU
When: Tuesday to Sunday, 9am to 4pm

What the parents say: A bit further afield – we love Sharnfold Farm. There’s pick your own (lots of different varieties of fruit and vegetables), a farm produce shop, cafe, children’s play area, farm trail, tractor rides and animals…

5. Tibbs Farm

Where: Tibbs Farm, Udimore, Rye, East Sussex, TN31 6AR
When: Tuesday to Sunday, 9.00am to 4pm

What to know: A bit further afield and a new suggestion for us, but boasting a lovely cafe and the largest selection of fruits in the South East, we thought this idyllic location was worth adding to the list!
