Five places to visit in Kent this weekend

Places to visit in Kent- two children at Wellington Rocks

After several months of putting the ‘What’s On this weekend’ blog posts on hold, I think it’s time to get back to suggesting some things to do with the kids. So here are five places to visit in Kent this weekend…

♥  Shorne Woods Country Park near Gravesend has been recommended to me several times as one of the top places to visit in Kent at the moment. The toilets and car park are currently open, and the cafe it open for takeaway orders too. The play area and visitor centre are still closed. Visitors can explore 292 acres of beautiful woodlands, wetlands and meadows, making it simple to social distance.

best family bike rides in Kent and East Sussex

♥  Bike ride from Tonbridge Swimming Pool (parking is free on Sundays) to Barden Lake / Haysden and back. Grab a bacon roll, ice cream or hot drink from the outdoor cafe too, before making your way back. Or pop into Creams for some ice-cream afterwards on Tonbridge Highstreet.

More places to visit around Tunbridge Wells this weekend…

♥  Beach beach beach! We love our trips to the seaside. When the weather isn’t so great, we usually go somewhere with a promenade where we can walk / cycle but if it’s nice and sunny, then it’s all about the beach itself. Greatstone is a new find for us to visit when the sun is shining. It’s not far from Camber but much quieter…

Independent Cafes in Tunbridge Wells

♥ Walk and Cafe! Many of our lovely local independent cafes are open for takeaway. So why not combine a family walk with dropping into one before or after? Choose from 30 walks around Tunbridge Wells and beyond! We went to Wellington Rocks on Tunbridge Wells Common the other day and my boys loved it. I don’t know why we don’t go there more often!

♥ Anyone for tennis? Some of the local tennis courts are back open including the courts at St John’s, Hawkenbury, Calverley Grounds, Pembury Rec, Tonbridge Park and Hollybush in Sevenoaks. These are all free options so grab your racket and pretend Wimbledon is still on!

If you like visiting our National Trusts, they are releasing tickets on Friday mornings for the following week. You may need to plan ahead for this one. Here’s our post highlighting National Trust Properties which are open now!
