The nights are drawing in and Autumn is well and truly here so it’s time to think about where to pick your own pumpkins in Kent & East Sussex! In these strange and unpredictable times we are delighted to see how well PYO Pumpkin locations have devised ways to stay open whilst keeping visitors and staff safe. Most locations now operate a ticket only system and you can find details of each below. This is a list of the best places to pick your own pumpkins in Kent and further afield – Happy Pumpkin Hunting!

♥ Birchden PYO Pumpkins
Opening every weekend in October and everyday from 24th October to 31st October – Tickets are now SOLD OUT!
Birchden Farm are now open for you to book tickets. Tickets will cost £5 per car and you will receive a £3 credit towards your pumpkin purchase. Birchden Farm is just 10 minutes from Tunbridge Wells and Crowborough (postcode TN3 9NR). This year they have over 18,000 pumpkins spread over a five acre patch waiting for you. Pumpkin prices start at £1 and go up depending on the size you choose. Purchases can be made via cash or card.
♥ Four Winds Farm PYO Pumpkins Kent
Opening 24th October to 31st October – Tickets are now SOLD OUT!
Four Winds Farm Pick Your Own is back this year at Pumpkin Field, Poundsbridge Hill, TN3 0RL. In addition to a variety of sizes and colours of pumpkins there will also be a scarecrow hunt and refreshments available. Entry will be by ticket only with a number or sessions throughout the day. This will allow for plenty of space for a socially distanced fun day out and will ensure the safety of both visitors and staff. Tickets will go on sale on 1st October. Remember to take your wellies! (but please leave your four-legged friends at home). Just pay for what you pick. See you there!
♥ Lower Ladysden Farm
Opening weekends from 3rd October and everyday from 24th to 31st October – there is still some availability on 30th and 31st October
Come and pick a pumpkin at this lovely farm in Goudhurst. Entry to the patch will be by pre-booked ticket only. Tickets cost £2 per person and under 3’s are free. They have set up contactless payment stations outside and ask that this is used as much as possible over cash. Handles on the wheelbarrows will be cleaned after each use and they are supplying the necessary sanitiser for those who wish to give their wheelbarrow an extra clean. There is a lovely crop of pumpkins to choose from in all shapes and sizes with prices starting from £1.
♥ Priory Farm, South Nutfield, Redhill
Opening from 10th October – Tickets are now SOLD OUT!
Priory Farm ask you to “jump on your broomstick and have a horribly good time!”. They have a Spooooooky Trail on The Discovery Walk every day between 10th October to 1st November. Tickets are £5 per person and booking is essential. The Tractor Trailer Ride to the pumpkin field will take place every weekend from 10th October and each day between 25th to 31st October. It costs £3 plus the price of your pumpkin and, again, booking is essential. The Pumpkin Palace will be open at the entrance to The Discovery Walk. Follow signs in the car park to go and choose your perfect pumpkin. This is open daily from 24th to 31st October and prices start at £1.50. The Priory Farm Shop will also have a display of pumpkins available from September.
♥ Pumpkin Moon in Sandling, Maidstone
Pumpkin Moon has sold out for 2020 at all three sites
This year Pumpkin Moon are introducing a ticketing system to ensure the safety of both visitors and staff. Ticket prices are £1.50 and children under 3 are free. You must bring your entry ticket with you. Pumpkin Moon have 80 varieties of pumpkin, squash and gourd in all shapes, sizes and colours for you, a small maize maze and hot food and drinks. Their website features a description of the varieties and also some recipes to make good use of your purchases!
♥ The Spadework Charity PYO Pumpkin Garden
There is apparently still good availability and no need to book ahead (though there will be a limited number of people permitted in the garden at the same time)
♥ Riverside Farmers PYO Pumpkins Kent
Opening weekends from 10th October and every day from 23rd October to 31st October – Tickets are now SOLD OUT!
Riverside Farmers, Beluncle Farm is a family farm in Rochester. Some of the proceeds from pumpkin sales go towards Crohn’s and Colitis UK & Crohn’s in Childhood Research Association. This year you need to pre-book a ticketed slot to access the car park. This will then give you entry for you to pay £20 for a wheelbarrow and this price will include a maximum of 15 pumpkins or squash and 5 of each variety. Maize and coloured corn will count towards your 15 items. Please note that dogs are not allowed on the farm this Autumn.
♥ Saffery Farm, Pick Your Own Pumpkins Kent – Faversham
Opening 24th October to 31st October – Currently open and no need to book. It sounds like it is pretty muddy though. Check their Facebook page before you visit!
Saffery Farm Pick Your Own Pumpkins Kent are not offering a booking system but have put in place a lot of safety measures to keep visitors and staff safe. Details will be taken for Track and Trace by a staff member and sanitiser will be available for your hands along with a wheelbarrow with sanitised handles. They are only allowing safe numbers onto the field which means you may need to park and wait in your car until there is space. Drinks will be available however there won’t be toilets. As they are a working farm they advise you to wear wellies. Last year Saffery Farm raised a substantial amount for Padua Ward at the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford. Please keep an eye on their Facebook page in case of any unexpected closures.
♥ Sevington Farm, Nr Ashford
Opening weekends from 17th October and every day from 24th to 31st October – Tickets are now SOLD OUT!
If you fancy something a little further afield then become a ‘Pumpkin Picker’ and choose your perfect pumpkin for Halloween at at Sevington Farm in Ashford. Entrance to this working farm is still free but this year you will be required to book. ‘BOO’kings open on 8th October and there is a maximum of 6 people (including children) per booking. Prices start at £1 for a small pumpkin and £10 for a Monster hug pumpkin. This year they will be supporting The Brain Tumour Charity. Please note that dogs are not allowed. Sevington Farm ask that you check their Facebook page prior to leaving in case the levels of mud force them to temporarily close.
♥ Taywell Farm Shop
Taywell has now sold out of pumpkins
Taywell Farm will be opening their Pumpkin Village from 10th October in Goudhurst. More info coming soon!
♥ Tulleys Farm
Various dates from now until 31st October – Tickets are now SOLD OUT!
Tulleys Farm have a total of 20 acres of pumpkins, producing around 150,000 pumpkins! Whether you want to carve a ghoulish face, make a delicious pie or decorate your house with unusual gourds there is an ideal pumpkin for everyone. Booking is open now. Admission tickets vary from £2 to £5 per person depending on which date you would like to visit.
