Do you have any favourite restaurants with outdoor seating in Tunbridge Wells? I’m sharing my top places to eat alfresco which I hope you’ll find useful too…
Thank goodness for restaurants with outdoor seating in Tunbridge Wells at the moment. The weather is so hot and it is such a luxury to be able to eat outside when it is like this.
Eating out is one of my favourite things to do and it is even better when our food can be enjoyed outdoors in a lovely restaurant with outdoor seating. We are lucky to have plenty of options here in Tunbridge Wells.
A few things to note when dining out. If you would like to guarantee a table, the only way to do it is book ahead. I know this takes away the spontaneity but certainly from my own point of view, I would much rather dine somewhere I want to go to and plan ahead, rather than just turn up and risk it.
Squaremeal is a great place to see your dining options and to book ahead and includes a huge amount of restaurants, bars and pubs as well as wedding venues and private dining. Now which ones to choose?
Some of my favourite restaurants with outdoor seating in Tunbridge Wells…
The George & Dragon
The George and Dragon in Speldhurst reopened under new ownership in May 2021 and word has been quickly spreading about how gorgeous the pub garden is.
Adorned with twinkly lights and plenty of space between tables, the food is divine and this 13th century inn is completely charming. A must-visit in my opinion…
A new kid on the block in Tunbridge Wells, Lago has a gorgeous outdoor area and is becoming renowned as one of the best Italian restaurants in the area.
You’ll find it on the cobbled street just off Tunbridge Wells High Street. Open Tuesday to Sunday for lunch and dinner, if you are a fan of Italian food then you must try this authentic place!
Sankey’s Old Fish Market
This place is really special! Located in the Old Fishmarket building in the heart of the Pantiles, this is the place to quaff the sparkling stuff and enjoy the very best British fish & shellfish. There is some seating indoors but the majority of it is in a sectioned off area at the front of the building on the pedestrianised Pantiles.
The menu comprises of oysters, starters and mains and also allows you to build your own platters. As I write this post, it reminds me that I really need to book a table there soon! It is definitely one of my favourite places to eat out in the Pantiles.
Thackeray’s serves fine french cuisine which is an absolute treat and somewhere that is perfect for celebrating a special occasion or just indulging in a delicious meal.
The outdoor seating area is surprisingly spacious and tranquil given that it is so central to Tunbridge Wells. Enjoy a meal or just a drink – whichever you prefer. It can also be a great pitstop for a fancy lunch if you are out shopping in Tunbridge Wells.
The Beacon has undergone quite the transformation too with several different dining areas and acres of insanely lovely garden.
Sitting high above the hill at Happy Valley in Rusthall, Tunbridge Wells. You will not be disappointed!
Saint John’s Yard Bar & Restaurant
This is a fab place to go if you are looking for somewhere relaxed but with great grub. The beer garden is large – just like their burgers and the vibe is relaxed.
Located in St John’s, on the outskirts of Tunbridge Wells, this is a great place to spend a sunny afternoon with friends!
