My Tunbridge Wells

Your insider guide to the best of Tunbridge Wells

What’s on in Tunbridge Wells this weekend: 31 Aug & 1 Sept

For many of us ‘back to school‘ is on our minds but for now, let’s make the most of the last weekend before we start getting back into a routine and thinking about all of the awesome Autumn activities coming up (watch this space!).

There’s plenty to do locally this weekend, so read on to find something that will keep you and the kids entertained…

chiddingstone-castle

♥ Have you been to visit Chiddingstone Castle and the gorgeous grounds this summer? There’s still time to take part in the hidden hieroglyph (outdoor) trail this Sunday (as well as Monday and Tuesday) – no need to book ahead – purchase your trail sheets (£3) at the main door on the day.

♥ Hit Bedgebury and swing from the treetops at GoApe. This aerial-based walkway provides age-appropriate challenges and is fab for adrenaline junkies of all ages. While at Bedgebury why not pop into the cafe for a treat, do the Gruffalo trail for younger ones or enjoy their playground trail through the woods. Save 15% on Go Ape with this code.

tonbridge dragon boat race_weekend tunbridge wells

♥ Cheer on the teams competing in the Tonbridge Dragon Boat Race this Sunday! Running on the River Medway next to Tonbridge Castle, the heats and races are taking place from 9.30am to 3pm. The Tonbridge Food & Drink Festival is taking place across the weekend too, plus visit the big playground at Racecourse Park and have a look out for the miniature railway outside the swimming pool.

♥ Wilderness Woods have some new additions to check out –  including an adorable tiny log cabin for kids in the tea garden! This is always such a special place to visit for a wholesome morning / afternoon in nature.

♥ The Amelia in Tunbridge Wells is hosting their Game Changer board-game cafe on Sunday from 12-3.45pm. Go along and get engrossed in a game – there’s classics and modern board games, and the whole family will be entertained. This one is FREE!

Tunbridge Wells Summer Holiday Clubs

♥  Haysden Country Park – The great thing about Haysden Country Park is that it has a bit of everything – a fun playground, a cafe (with outdoor seating), a big lake with pedestrian and cycle path and a forest. We like walking across to Tonbridge Playing Fields and back via the river. There is a fee for parking.

♥ How about a bike ride along the Forest Way path? It’s all flat and with no traffic, so easy for cyclists young and old. The whole route connects East Grinstead to Groombridge, but if you don’t fancy cycling the whole 10 miles then you can just do a chunk. We have loads of the best family bike rides in Kent here too.
