This is a collaborative post with The Massage Company. Though as always, all thoughts are my own.
Thinking of going for a massage in Tunbridge Wells? Read this first!
The last time I had a massage was nearly three years ago which is far too long, I know! Especially given that being a Mum to three young kids is probably the most stressful time of my life. But between Covid and the business of day-to-day life, my self care pretty much always goes to the bottom of the list, although it is something I am gradually working on.
Last week, was my first step in making these changes and I enjoyed a marvellous treatment at The Massage Company in Tunbridge Wells. Find out why I thought it was so good and what to expect if you decide to visit too…

The Massage Company Tunbridge Wells…
Based on Monson Road (next to the iconic Jeremy’s Home Store), The Massage Company opened its doors in Tunbridge Wells almost three years ago.
They offer several different types of treatment including deep tissue, sports, swedish and pregnancy massage as well as optional upgrades such as hot stones and aromatherapy.
They are open seven days per week, until 9pm from Monday to Friday too, which means there is lots of flexibility in terms of booking. They also have up to twelve treatment rooms available at a time so again, there should be plenty of days / times that would work for you.
The first centre was founded by Charlie Thompson and Elliot Walker in Camberley in March 2016, and there are now five branches in total with many Tunbridge Wells clients booking in for a regular monthly massage as part of their wellness routine.

What did I think about my massage?
First impressions were very good. The reception area at The Massage Company smells divine and the place has a very serene feel to it. Amy greeted me as I came in and gave me a form to fill in, outlining any health conditions etc. She then introduced me to Elizabeth, my massage therapist.
Elizabeth led me through a warren of doors to my treatment room and I got down to my underwear for the massage (keeping the lower half on) while she waited outside the door.
We briefly discussed what sort of a massage would work best and agreed that probably the scalp massage would be most beneficial as I often suffer from tension headaches. And what a great decision that was!
Any stress I had been feeling dissipated the minute my massage started and I can say this is truly the most relaxed I have been in months. In the past I have had massages that have been a bit sore and I mentioned this to Elizabeth beforehand. She very much took this on board and checked the pressure with me plenty of times.
What did I like most?
♥ The feeling of complete escapism and not having access to my phone! I probably don’t need to explain this but I have a love/hate thing with my phone and like doing things that mean I have a complete break from it. Like swimming, the cinema and now…having a massage!
♥ Doing something solely for me. The option of having a monthly membership (more details below) and knowing that I have a massage coming up once per month is such a lovely thing to look forward to. Massage doesn’t have to be a once-per-year treat. It is something that can bring so many benefits to our overall wellbeing. Why leave it so long?
♥ The physical feeling of having the tension released from my muscles. Especially in my head and neck area. I could visibly feel more relaxed afterwards!
♥ The longer opening hours at The Massage Company meant I could easily find several slots that work for me timewise. Flexibility is key for me as I work erratic hours…
♥ I liked being listened to! Elizabeth took on board what I said and adapted my massage to suit what I needed. She always asked about the pressure and was spot on with the massage!

What else do you need to know?
If you haven’t been to The Massage Company, your first massage is offered as a discounted rate of £49.95.
As mentioned, The Massage Company also has a membership option, where members pay a monthly fee for a massage (£59.95 per month for the full membership) which features one 50 minute massage per month along discounted upgrades, the option to rollover massage credits, sharing 2 of the massages per year and splitting them into two 25 minute sessions.
Massages for non-members are usually £89.95 so the membership option sounds like a pretty good deal to me.
Also I would be much more likely to pencil in the time for my massage if I am paying upfront for it and do you know what? That’s exactly what I need!
