ad. If there’s one takeaway that always goes down well in our house, it’s pizza – and The Real Pizza Company in Tunbridge Wells has become a firm local favourite for good reason.

We recently went behind the scenes to discover what makes their pizzas so special – from dough made fresh using just four ingredients and pizzas stone baked in a wood-fired oven in just 90 seconds, to their seriously good sweet and savoury dough balls, also made fresh on site.

There’s plenty of thought that goes into getting your pizza to your door too, with their own delivery drivers and specially designed heated bags helping to make sure it arrives piping hot.

Even better, My Tunbridge Wells readers can get £5 off all orders with the code MTW5 – and you can use it alongside other offers and deals. Simply order through The Real Pizza Company app or website, select the Tunbridge Wells store and enter the code at checkout. Valid until 31st October.

So, what keeps people coming back to The Real Pizza Company again and again? Here’s what we discovered…

Fresh dough made with just four ingredients

One of the things we loved discovering was just how simple the pizza dough is.

It’s made fresh using just four ingredients (flour, yeast, water and salt), before being hand-stretched and topped to order. You can actually see the team working with the dough in the kitchen, which makes such a difference compared with a mass-produced pizza base.

Once topped, the pizzas go straight into the wood-fired oven, where they take just 90 seconds to stone bake.

The result is that lovely freshly baked base with a slightly charred, puffy crust – exactly how a proper wood-fired pizza should be. And I promise you – you can taste the difference! The pizza has a distinct wood-fired flavour to it and it’s so moorish!

Don’t skip the dough balls!

Pizza might be the main event, but we also need to talk about the dough balls.

These are made fresh on site too, with both sweet and savoury options available. They’re perfect for sharing alongside your pizzas – although you might want to order enough that you don’t actually have to share!

The savoury dough balls make a brilliant side, while the sweet versions are a very good excuse to add dessert to your order. I dare you to try the Oreo dough balls – you will love them! They are immense….

Keeping your pizza hot on the way home

Another thing that impressed us was the thought that goes into delivery.

The Real Pizza Company uses its own delivery drivers, rather than relying entirely on third-party delivery services. The pizzas are transported in specially designed induction-heated delivery bags, helping them arrive at your door properly hot and ready to eat.

It’s a small detail, but an important one when you’re ordering freshly baked pizza!

Deals when you order direct

It’s definitely worth ordering directly through The Real Pizza Company website or app, rather than using a third-party platform. Check the ‘Offers’ section before you order, as there are regularly some great deals available exclusively when ordering direct.

And even better, £5 off (with code MTW5,) for My Tunbridge Wells readers can be used alongside other offers and deals. The code is valid on orders from the Tunbridge Wells store until 31st October.

Our verdict

We loved getting to see behind the scenes and, more importantly, getting to taste the results!

If you like a proper wood-fired pizza with fresh dough, a gorgeous crust and plenty of choice, The Real Pizza Company in Tunbridge Wells is definitely one to try.

And whatever you order, we’d highly recommend adding some of those freshly made dough balls on the side.
