Some lovely new local businesses have opened up this week to visit, from pubs to pottery and of course old favourites have reopened like the Spa Valley Railway who have some special events running to celebrate!
♥ Recently taken over by Elite Pubs, the Mark Cross has been fully refurbished and re-opened on Monday as The Lazy Fox. Complete with pizza oven, outdoor seating area, playground and summer music events, it’s set to be another family favourite from the chain.
♥ The loveable rogue Peter Rabbit back and leaving the safety of McGregor’s garden for an even bigger adventures there’s a new villain in town. Peter Rabbit 2 – The Runaway is now showing at Odeon Tunbridge Wells and Showcase Cinema de Lux Bluewater.
♥ Celebrate the reopening of the Spa Valley Railway in style, with special events such as Cream Teas, Fish & Chip lunches/suppers, afternoon teas and my personal favourite, Gin & Steam. Bookings are being taken online at the moment, for £45 for private compartment for 6 people or individual tickets at £10 per adult/£5 for children.
♥ I visited the gorgeous town of Cranbrook as part of Tunbridge Wells Borough Council’s ‘Say Hi to your High Street’ campaign and my goodness I was blown away with this lovely place. There are so many quaint little shops to visit, delicious places to eat and plenty of walks to discover. ♥ You can take a closer look at the excellent rated Somerhill School, Tonbridge this Saturday 22nd May from 9.30am onwards. The school takes boys and girls from age 2, then through the prep years until age 11 for girls, 13 for boys. Book your individual tour online here.
♥ Support St Luke’s Church, Tunbridge Wells by popping along to their plant, produce and book sale this Saturday between 10am-2pm.
♥ For something different, Kenward Place is a hidden family-friendly destination in Yalding. Book now to walk and feed the friendly family of alpacas, try your hand at archery or master your frisbee skills on the 18-hole disc golf course. There’s a café and gift shop, plus woodland and 15 acres to explore too.

♥ I can recommend checking out the library at The Hub, in the lovely new light and airy centre in Southborough. You can park free for 2 hours around the corner on Yew Tree Road and there are some lovely independent shops and cafes in the area I really enjoy visiting too, such as, The Earl Grey Tea Rooms and Contain Yourself.
♥ With it being Father’s Day next month, unleash some creative skills on some homemade crafts at The Pottery Box, a brand-new pottery painting shop in Avebury Avenue, Tonbridge. Sessions can be booked in advance, including baby and child prints, pottery paining, parties, groups, workshops, evening sessions and more.
♥ For family walks with a buggy or wheelchair in tow, www.explorekent.org has some great easy access walks in the local area, including the circular Jane Austen & Tonbridge circular walk, passing places known to be connected to the Austin family.
