As a fan of toddler walks near Tunbridge Wells, here is one to add to the list – The nature trail at Coolings’ in Knockholt, about twenty five minutes from Tunbridge Wells offers a fab family day out…..
With an energetic toddler who likes to get out of the house every day, as I mentioned above, I am always on the look-out for toddler walks near Tunbridge Wells. Thanks to a friend (you know who you are!!) who recommended the Coolings’ nature trail, we spent a lovely afternoon there recently.
The nature trail is located at the back of the garden centre in Knockholt and with a lovely cafe on site and gorgeous gifts in the garden centre shop, this place covers all bases.
Covering a 6 acre area, the nature trail is full of native plants and creatures and resident animals from further afar!
The star attraction is a colony of wallabies and there are plenty of other animals including Welsh badger-faced mountain sheep, mangalitzas, otherwise known as woolly pigs, chickens and goats.
The Nature Trail can take around 40 minutes to complete, though we took quite a bit longer as my son wanted to explore every inch of the place. He particularly liked the little dens/sheds which are scattered around the trail and he loved running through the ‘pirate’ tunnel (made of trees).
The paths are buggy and disabled scooter-friendly and ideal for families with young children.
An adult annual pass is available for 14, children’s pass is 7 and under 5’s are free. A family pass (2 adults & up to 3 Children aged 5+) is £35.
Day passes can also be purchased – adult admission is £3.50, child (5 – 12 years) £1.75 and under 5’s are free. A family day pass (2 adults & up to 3 Children aged 5+) is £8.75
There are two Coolings garden centres in Knockholt so make sure you go to the right one! Opening hours are Monday – Saturday 9am – 4.30pm / Sunday 10am – 4pm. Further information on this terrific toddler walk near Tunbridge Wells can be found here.
