Wondering what’s on in Kent this weekend?
As family attractions are re-opening, you may be wondering what’s on in Kent this weekend? We have suggested 10 different places to take the kids. I hope you have fun!
♥ Diggerland reopens this weekend for pre-booked entry. This is always a great day out for us and I’m looking forward to taking my boys at some point over the Summer. Here’s our review of Diggerland.
An oldie but a goody!
♥ Haysden Country Park’s playground has re-opened so there’s a bit of everything at this lovely place. A fun playground, an outdoor cafe, a big lake with pedestrian and cycle path and a forest. Parking is £1.20 for up to 4 hours. Ooh and toilets! This has been one of our long-term favourite walks / cycles.
♥ There’s still time to PYO Fruit! I have heard Maynards have some fantastic cherries and there should be some more lovelly ripened strawberries at Downingbury Farm. Best to ring ahead if you can. Here are our top 5 places to PYO fruit in Kent and East Sussex.
More of what’s on in Kent this weekend…
♥ The playground at Penshurst Place reopens this weekend for pre-booked visits. We have had so much use of this over the last 8 years (since having kids) and it is rarely crowded in the adventure playground and garden, so the perfect place to social distance.
♥ Have you been to Lullingstone Country Park? As well as acres of rolling fields, there’s a little river for paddling, a playground, cafe and woodland to explore. I have heard the carpark can get quite busy though and I’m just checking to see if the cafe / playground are open. I’ll update this post with any news.
♥ Cycle along a promenade? We went down to Bexhill Seafront (East Sussex) last Friday and the boys enjoyed cycling along the promenade. It was very windy though, so wrap up warm if you do go. Dymchurch could be a good option too?
Enjoy the countryside…
♥ The gorgeous Kingdom in Penshurst is open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, serving delicious food from their Mother Truck from 10am to 3pm! Enjoy a bike ride, ramble or dog walk and pop into the Hidden Hut for some shopping too. Be surrounded by breath taking views and nature at its best.
♥ Tunbridge Wells Commons Conservators have a very special photography competition to share with readers of all ages who visit the Tunbridge Wells and Rusthall Commons. Why not enter? It might get the kids more motivated for their walk? Deadline is 31st July!
Try somewhere new?
♥ Recommended by a lovely reader on Instagram, Ardingly Showground have a pop up cafe each weekend from Friday to Sunday. You’ll need to park at The South of England Showground – North Gate. There are plenty of fields to wander around (exercise the kids) and the cafe has its own new Pimms Bar and Mamabars Vintage bar as well as serving Lebanese Max wraps, Bean-to-cup Coffee & Cakes, Cornish Ice creams and more! There’s a bench and seating area, the toilets are open and the cafe is open from 12 noon to 10pm (subject to weather conditions).
♥ Bodiam Boating Station has been recommend too. If you have little kids, they are bound to enjoy paddling down the river. See if you can get as far as Bodiam Castle? Check out the lovely cafe while there too and meet the super friendly boating station team. You can hire boats and paddle boards from the boating station and there’s a campsite too (though it books up fast).
