Award-winning theatre company Box Tale Soup present a stunning new adaptation of George Orwell’s dystopian classic 1984 at Trinity Theatre on 26th March.

Known for their ingenious sets, inventive puppetry and slick storytelling, Box Tale Soup transform Orwell’s chilling vision of power, surveillance and control into a striking theatrical experience. Their unique puppetry becomes a powerful metaphor for a world where individuality is suppressed and truth is constantly rewritten.

The year is 1984 – perhaps. No one can be certain. Big Brother is everywhere, the Party watches all, and independent thought is dangerous. Winston Smith, an insignificant cog in the Party’s vast machine, lives a controlled and fearful existence – but deep inside he dreams of freedom. When rebellion begins with a single thought, how dangerous can a dream become?

Featuring the voices of Sophie Aldred and Joanna Lumley, with Simon Russell Beale as the voice of Big Brother, this Edinburgh Fringe 2025 sell-out production is a powerful and thought-provoking theatrical event.
