🍞 Event: Six-hour bread-making workshop
Roll up your sleeves and join Italian home baker Pietro Pagani of The Alternative Table to discover how one simple dough can become three completely different breads at this hands-on Bread Making Workshop at Bore Place on Saturday 30 January.
During the six-hour class, Pietro will guide you through making a classic tin loaf, herb focaccia and sweet cinnamon swirl – all by hand, without a mixer, sourdough starter or specialist equipment.
You’ll learn about gluten, hydration, folding, proving and shaping, with plenty of opportunities to practise and ask questions. Subject to availability, you’ll also visit Bore Place’s garden to pick herbs for your focaccia. During the dough’s natural resting periods, everyone will enjoy a freshly baked cinnamon swirl and a shared focaccia lunch.
All ingredients are included, with stoneground flour from Nonington Farms and local butter from Chiddingstone Dairy. You’ll leave with three breads, printed recipe cards and the confidence to recreate them at home. The workshop is suitable for complete beginners as well as anyone whose previous bread-making attempts haven’t quite gone to plan.
