Somerhill Pre-Prep is for boys and girls (aged 2-7). Derwent Lodge is our Prep section for girls (aged 7-11) and Yardley Court our Prep section for boys (aged 7-13).
We have also recently launched a new Pre-School session called ‘Saplings’, to complement our existing offering. This is a full day outdoor programme based on the principles of Forest School.
At the heart of our curriculum is enquiry-based learning which puts emphasis on the building of skills, investigation and self-reflection. At Somerhill we believe in a healthy balance of the digital domain and the natural world, and learning takes place both indoors and outdoors. We believe in the power of discovery, inspiration from the natural environment as well as providing excellent stimulating classrooms and facilities. We are one of only a few Prep Schools in the UK to include Engineering in its curriculum, allowing our pupils to develop essential skills for an ever-changing world.
